Cambridge University Counselling Service is seeking to recruit a Mental Health Advisor to work at the University Counselling Service to support students with serious or enduring mental health problems and help them access the specialist services they need.

You will work with staff in the Colleges, Counselling Service and Disability Resource Centre, as well as with Cambridge & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, to develop and enhance mental health support to students of the university.  You will also be responsible for assessing students’ fitness to study when emotional or mental health problems are affecting their academic progress.

This is a significant position in this large, busy and well-respected multi-disciplinary Counselling Service.

You will be professionally qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Social Worker or equivalent, and have significant relevant work experience.

(The University Counselling Service is currently operating on a hybrid basis, combining remote working and working in the Student Services building. 

We are currently offering students video or telephone counselling appointments and online group and workshop sessions. 

This will continue to be reviewed in line with university guidance.
