Locum Counsellors or CBT Therapists

We are seeking to appoint additional locum counsellors or CBT Therapists to join our busy, multi-disciplinary University Counselling Service.

If you would like to apply to work with us, you must have completed a post-graduate level counselling qualification. We also require applicants to have some experience of working with young people, ideally in Higher Education.

Accreditation as a counsellor/psychotherapist with the following professional bodies: BACP, UKCP, BABCP, BCP or as a clinical or counselling psychologist with BPS is essential.

Applicants should be available to work a minimum of 2 days per week.

We are working remotely, so you will need to be able to work in a secure environment keeping all communications private and confidential.

The UCS values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. However, as men and ethnic minorities are currently under-represented in this area, we would particularly welcome applications from male and ethnic minority applicants.  All appointments will be made on merit.

We pay a fixed daily rate and provide fortnightly supervision. As a locum counsellor or CBT therapist, you are also welcome to join any in-house CPD events that may be taking place when you are working with us.
In the first instance, please send your CV to:

Please make sure that your CV includes all previous employment and outlines clearly whether your role was part-time or full-time and the proportion of clinical hours when appropriate.
