The Counselling Service is not an emergency service.
If you don't know where to turn in an emergency or out of hours, here are a number of options:
- Many Colleges have Porters' Lodges that are staffed 24 hours a day.
- Many Colleges have a Tutorial system with a tutor on call.
- You might contact a friend, neighbour or family member.
- Contact your GP. Outside normal surgery hours, the Urgent Care Cambridgeshire service is available - see below.
- The self-help information on this website may have useful information. See the links on the left.
Please note that if you want to contact the Counselling Service quickly or in an emergency, email is not an appropriate way of getting in touch, as it may be some time before it is read. At times when we are open, it is much better to phone:

Outside normal surgery hours you can still phone your GP surgery, but you'll usually be directed to an out-of-hours service. Some GP surgeries offer evening and weekend appointments, so check your surgery’s website for details. The out-of-hours period is from 6.30pm to 8am on weekdays and all day at weekends and on bank holidays.
If you need medical help now but it's not an emergency, you can also go to 111 online or call 111.
